Legislation

AB 1511 is a major piece of legislation that sets in motion a process to prioritize ethnic and community media in California’s advertising. Signed into law by the Governor Gavin Newsom in September 2024 its passage represents a significant victory for ethnic and community outlets.

Authored by Assemblymember Miguel Santiago and sponsored by LMC, the legislation will require agencies to create strategic plans for boosting ad spending in our outlets. A major priority of ours—improving transparency and reporting by state agencies on advertising expenditures—was also included.

A HUGE WIN FOR ETHNIC MEDIA!
